Álvaro Mangino Schmid was a Uruguayan agricultural technician, businessman and one of the 16 survivors of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571. After the disaster, he lived for several years in Brazil before returning to Montevideo, where he worked in the heating and air-conditioning industry.
