Kevin Burkhardt was born and raised in Bloomfield, New Jersey, and studied broadcast journalism at William Paterson University, graduating in 1997. His path to the booth wasn't a straight line, he spent years working local radio in New Jersey and even sold cars at a dealership before catching a break with a part-time gig at WCBS-AM in New York in 2003. That led to a prominent run as a field reporter for SportsNet New York's Mets coverage from 2007 to 2014, where he built his reputation before Fox Sports hired him as an NFL play-by-play announcer in 2013. He steadily climbed Fox's broadcast ranks, and in 2022 he was named the network's lead NFL play-by-play voice, succeeding Joe Buck after nearly three decades in the role. Since then, Burkhardt has called multiple Super Bowls alongside analyst Tom Brady, while also serving as Fox's lead MLB studio host . Making him one of the few broadcasters anchoring top coverage across two major sports simultaneously.
